About 11 Plus 2028

11 Plus 2028 why starting early changes everything

Children aiming for September 2028 secondary school entry will sit their 11 Plus examinations in autumn 2027. If your child is currently in Year 3 or Year 4, you have the most valuable asset in 11 Plus preparation: time. Families who begin structured preparation at this stage are not putting pressure on their children they are removing it. Gradual, consistent preparation over two or more years produces confident, well-rounded students who approach Year 6 without fear.

The 11 Plus tests four subjects Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Vocabulary and reasoning skills take the longest to develop and cannot be rushed. A child who has been reading widely, practising reasoning patterns and building mathematical fluency since Year 3 or 4 will consistently outperform a child who tries to acquire those same skills in a few months. Geek School has been building those early foundations for South London families for over 10 years.

No and the research supports this clearly. Vocabulary development, general knowledge and reasoning pattern recognition all benefit enormously from an early start. At Geek School, our Year 3 and Year 4 sessions are engaging and appropriately paced not stressful. We build foundations, not pressure.
If your child is interested and engaged, there is no reason to wait. Our online programme caters for Year 3 students with Tuesday-Thursday sessions from 5–6pm. Our Beckenham and Catford centres also welcome Year 3 children in their weekday evening groups. We will assess your child and start from exactly the right level.
Families targeting September 2028 entry are typically looking at the same competitive grammar and independent schools as all South London families Wilson’s School, St Olave’s, Newstead Wood, Sutton Grammar, Dulwich College, Alleyn’s, James Allen’s Girls’ School and the Kent grammar schools. Starting in Year 3 or 4 puts your child in the strongest possible position for these schools.
