College Childcare Payments: What You Need to Know

If you’re at college, there’s additional help available! Many colleges provide financial support for childcare costs for students. Here’s how it works:

Who is Eligible?

• You must be 20 years or older (on 31 August of your enrolment year) and studying a government-funded further education course.
• You’ll need to be receiving a means-tested benefit such as Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, Jobseeker’s Allowance, or Tax Credits.
• Students under 20 can get support through the Care to Learn Scheme.

What Can College Childcare Payments Cover?

• The college may pay up to £70 per day for childcare. This includes tuition services provided by Ofsted-registered childcare providers like Geek School Tutoring.
• If your child is school-aged, you can use this funding to cover our after-school tuition programmes, helping your child excel in key subjects.

Some Important Details:

• Payments are made directly to the provider (that’s us!) and cover only the days you’re timetabled to study.

• Funding is limited, so applying early is important. Keep in mind that there may be a cap on payments, so if there’s high demand, awards might be reduced.
