Most Parents Are Preparing for the Wrong Exam
The 11 Plus is not one exam. Different schools test differently. Grammar school selection and independent school selection have different requirements, different timelines, and different preparation strategies.
The advice you find online is often generic, outdated, or wrong for the specific schools your child is targeting.
This session cuts through the noise. In 60 minutes you will leave with a clear picture of what your child is facing, what preparation should look like, and what most parents get wrong.
- A clear understanding of grammar vs independent school entry
- The correct exam board for your target schools
- A realistic preparation timeline for your child’s year group
- The key registration deadlines you must not miss
- The most common mistakes — and how to avoid them
- Answers to your specific questions in the live Q&A
60 Minutes. Everything You Need to Know.
Six focused topics, delivered clearly, with time for your questions at the end.
The Registration Process, Start to Finish
When and how to apply, what you must not miss, and the key deadlines for grammar and independent school entry in 2026/27.
The Exam Boards Explained
CEM, GL Assessment, and school-specific tests: what each one tests, how they differ, and why it matters for your child’s preparation.
Grammar vs Independent: The Key Differences
Selective state schools and independent schools have very different entry processes. We explain both clearly so you can make the right choice for your child.
A Realistic Preparation Timeline
What preparation should look like by year group — whether your child is in Year 3, 4, 5 or 6 — including what is still achievable if you are starting later than you would like.
The Mistakes Most Parents Make
From using the wrong practice papers to underestimating the writing component at independent schools. We cover the most common errors so you can avoid them from the start.

Every session ends with a live Q&A. Bring your specific questions about your child’s year group, target schools, or current preparation.
