There are two grammar schools in Bromley’s borough of Bromley, which are quite popular amongst families living in the Kent and Southeast London areas. There is Olaves for boys and Newstead Wood for girls. Many children applying to these schools tend to also register to grammar schools in Bexley and Kent boroughs. At Geek School Tutoring, we have a lot of success helping children to pass these exams.
Parents can register their child to sit the selection tests for St Olaves and Newstead Wood schools directly to the schools.
While the scores for Newstead Woods School for Girls are standardised according to age, younger children writing the St Olave’s selection test will not benefit from age-standardised scoring. The test is written and administered by the school.
Both the St Olave’s and the Newstead Wood schools are independent of each other, and thus follow their own format for their papers. While Newstead Wood only has one exam (covering just verbal and non-verbal reasoning), St Olave’s has two stages; the first being multiple choice and the second being a standard, maths and English paper (including a writing task).
