Year 4 Reading List for the 11 Plus Preparation

Reading is a crucial part of preparing any child for the 11 Plus exams. You may think that Year 4 is too early to prep, but children who excel in English from an earlier age can find it a lot easier later on. Additionally an ability to read and understand questions across not only English, but maths, verbal and non-verbal reasoning goes a long way!
Also, with reading comes increased comprehension, an expansion of vocabulary and the space to be able to digest complicated texts that show up on papers in the 11 Plus exams. It’s therefore never too early to start preparing.
If you’re looking for a guide on the type of books to encourage your child to read in Year 4, here is a short list. If you can squeeze in one book per month, that’s a good start. If you can squeeze more in, all the better.
